Laura Roscam Abbing: Colour in the Home. Autochromes by Jacob Olie Jr

22,95

Rijksmuseum Studies in Photography, vol 13.

The Rijksmuseum has a fascinating group of autochromes from an amateur photographer with a professional interest in color: the Dutch chemist Jacob Olie jr. (Son of the well-known Amsterdam photographer Jacob Olie sr.). During the two decades in which the autochrome was in use, he photographed himself, his wife and his daughter. With the help of these almost 400 photographs, the world of the higher bourgeoisie comes to life for us at the beginning of the 20th century. The photographs in and around the house form the special subject of this study: how did they live, how did they set up their homes? Laura Roscam Abbing leads us into the mystery of early color photography.
