Wout Berger: Like Birds

60,00

Bergers photographs capture a different reality from what is generally noticed, zooming in on specific, intricate natural and man-made details and patterns that can only be caught through the technical lens of the camera. Inherent to the photographers approach is a tacit understanding that natures beauty is also in constant flux and under threat nature makes place for human intervention and the urge for expansion.

Description

Bergers photographs capture a different reality from what is generally noticed, zooming in on specific, intricate natural and man-made details and patterns that can only be caught through the technical lens of the camera. Inherent to the photographers approach is a tacit understanding that natures beauty is also in constant flux and under threat nature makes place for human intervention and the urge for expansion. Think of natural plants and flowers growing on toxic soil, flowers alongside motorways that are enveloped in poisonous exhaust fumes, and the strange and wonderful Baobab tree as a tragic centrepiece of an environment that is slowly disappearing.

Produced to accompany an exhibition with the same title, the photographs were realised between 2002 and 2009 and are reproduced here, one to a page as a captivating and thought-provoking series of full-page, colour images.
