Description
Nelson Morales was born in Unión Hidalgo, Oaxaca. He studied Audiovisual Communication.
For almost eight years he has been dedicated to photography and has studied different programs on contemporary photography in Mexico. His work focuses primarily on issues of sexual diversity, gender and identity.
He attended the Contemporary Photography Seminar at the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín and the Centro de la Imagen (2015), he also attended the Photobook Incubator at Hydra + Fotografía (2016), he has been in workshops with Antoine D’Agata, Yumi Goto and other international professors.
He has had several solo and group exhibitions in countries such as: Spain, Colombia, Portugal, Germany, Malaysia, Argentina, United States, India, Brazil, the Netherlands and Mexico. In 2015 his work was exhibited in FOAM X HYDRA, in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. In addition, he was part of the group exhibition Borrador de un cuerpo Intervenido, in the ARTEXARTE gallery, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 2017 he was selected to do an art residency at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Also, his work was included in the magazine Aperture, in the issue “Future gender”.
In 2018 he was selected for the New York Times portfolio review, in which a monographic report on his work was later published. He was also selected at the XXVIII Biennial of the Centro de la Imagen. In addition, he will be participating in different photography festivals in India, Brazil and the United States during the year.
He has received various awards and mentions at national and international level. His work is part of private and public collections.
