As of 12 September 2020, PhotoQ Bookshop will be open again on weekends. Visitors are welcome on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
During the week, the store remains closed. If necessary, you can visit the shop by appointment to pick up ordered books (email: email@example.com).
Due to the situation around Covid-19, caution remains warranted. Visitors must disinfect their hands upon entry. Up to three customers can be present in the store at the same time. Visitors should also stay at a minimum distance of 1.5 meters away from each other.
The PhotoQ Bookshop is a specialty shop for photo books, especially of journalistic, documentary and artistic nature. These are often small editions and specially designed books. Many are produced by small publishers, or photographers themselves, who publish the books.
We understand that online sales are useful, but visiting a real store, especially for photo books, is a great way to get in touch. Visitors can grab books, browse, feel the cover and feel the paper, smell the ink and assess the quality of the print. The importance of that physical experience gives the photo book a good chance of survival as an important photographic medium in times when digital forms determine communication.
Since August 2019, the PhotoQ Bookshop is part of World Press Photo.
Edie Peters is the store manager.
You can find the shop on the ‘Westergas’ in Amsterdam:
